YOUTH CLASSES – Our Youth Classes are postponed for the summer to coincide with the summer vacation. We will resume sometime in September.
BIBLE STUDY – Today we will have our Bible Study at 2:00 p.m. It will be led by Mr. Herb Vierra.
SPANISH BIBLE CLASS – Once a quarter, our Spanish Bible Class will be full sermon length with guest speaker Mr. Mario Seiglie from Garden Grove. Today’s class will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the choir room.
CELL PHONES – Just a reminder that all cell phones should be turned off while at services. If you must have your phone on due to a special circumstance, please have it on silent mode.
POTLUCK - SEPTEMBER 13TH - Our next potluck will be on Saturday September 13th, 2008. We would like to try something we believe will be both fun and different by having a potluck that features various foods from around the world. However, to make this potluck a successful event, we need individuals and families to sign up to bring a Main Dish and Side dish (peas, corn, salad, rice, veggies) that would be characteristic of a particular country. This means that not everyone can sign up to bring lasagna and enchiladas. Dessert will be provided.
Please stop by the Information Table sometime over the next two Sabbaths and take a look at the four sign up lists. We would like to have food dishes that would be characteristic from all Latin countries, Europe, Asia and the United States and Canada. Don’t be afraid to try something different. Remember, there is always a Trader Joes. Please bring enough for your family and two other people. If you have any questions, please see Mireya Velazquez.
WHERE ARE YOU ATTENDING THE FEAST? - We are going to have a voluntary sign-up list as to where your family plans to attend the Feast this year available on the Information Table. This is to help in organizing fellowship, rides, etc. Please sign the list at the Information Table at your convenience.
VOLUNTEERS FOR F.O.T. HOLY DAY OFFERING PROCESSING - It is that time of year again. Time just seems to fly by and before we know it, the Feast of Tabernacles will be upon us – just two-and-a-half months away. With that in mind, once again we are in need of volunteers to help with processing the holy day offerings at the eleven U.S. Feast sites. These volunteers help our processing procedures a great deal back here at the home office. If you are interested in serving in this area, please see Tony Garcia.
PERSONAL ITEMS IN MAIN MEETING HALL - When leaving the building after services please take all personal items with you. This will assure that items will be safe and assist us in closing down the building.

FOOD SHELF - The Food Shelf cabinet has been moved to the choir room behind the stage. For those in need - please help yourselves to canned goods, rice, toiletries, even coupons. For those who have donated items to the Food Shelf Program - thank you! For those who would like to bring a few non-perishable items to our Food Shelf - please do so. We need more items. The Food Shelf cabinet is available and open one half hour before and after services. For those in need and those supplying need - thank you for your participation to make this program work. Please see Bob Brown or Paul Shemet should you have any questions.
NEW MEMBER WEBSITE – Mr. Kilough announced that we now have a new member website. You can access it at http://members.ucg.org. This new space will give members a chance to see material that is unique to our calling and offer information that is of a deeper understanding. With this new site, we can place links to the many in-house programs and activities unique to our membership. The activity calendar is one example, plus a new feature “About Our Father’s Business” will include video clips of interviews of various ministers and department heads in Cincinnati. So, check it out!
CHURCH WEBSITE – Have you checked out our local Church website lately (www.ucgla.org)? We have added a new section (Sermon Archive) where we will be adding sermons given each week here in Eagle Rock. So if miss a sermon, you can now log in and listen to the sermon on your computer. New sermons will be added every few weeks.
We also added a new section called “UCGLA Member Login” where you can (using a login name and password from Mr. Greider) see our new Membership Photo Album as well as other special sections. Check it out!
BEYOND TODAY* – Don't forget that you can tune in to the Beyond Today TV show in Pasadena every Sunday morning at 6:00 am and again at 6:00 p.m. on Public Access Channel 56.
If you live in South Pasadena you can watch the program on Channel 6 on Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. and in Monrovia you can watch the show on Channel 98 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 4:30 p.m.
You can also see the program in Sunland, Tujunga, Sun Valley, Shadow Hills, Lake View Terrace, Pacoima and parts of Sylmar on Time Warner Public Access Channel 20 on Thursday evenings at 9:30 pm.
* Understand your great future now. Watch Beyond Today TV online for free. www.beyondtoday.tv/programs/current
MP3 PLAYERS FOR THE MEDIA LIBRARY – On the first Sabbath of each month, we will be making an MP3 CD of the previous month’s sermons available for anyone who cannot download the messages from our church website www.ucgla.org. There will be two MP3 players available for loan for 2 weeks at a time.
After two weeks, they must be returned for others to use. A sign-up list for the units will be at the Library Table
PRAYER REQUESTS – If you would like to request prayers for you or a family member, please fill out the prayer request form on the Information Table and post on the Bulletin Board. Please give us pertinent information and please update. Each member of the congregation is asked to check the bulletin board often.
GETTING TO KNOW YOU – Each week we will be featuring a bio sketch about one of the “families” (individuals, couples and families) in our congregation in an effort to learn more about each other. If you would like to participate, please take a moment to fill out a "Getting to Know You..."questionnaire, located at the Information Table. The questionnaires may be returned to either the Information Table or Bill Grinnell. You may also email or mail them to Bill (these addresses are found at the bottom of the questionnaire). We look forward to getting to know you!
CARD CORNER – Please take a moment to stop by the Card Corner and sign a card for someone who is sick or in need of encouragement. If you would like us to send a card to someone, please see Linda Api.

SECURITY AND SAFETY
Security and safety is everyone's responsibility. In order to insure a secure and safe place of worship, the following points are recommended:
1. Make sure your vehicle is locked and valuables are placed out of sight.
2. Keep your eyes open and if anything looks suspicious or out of the ordinary, please advise one of the deacons or security men on duty.
3. It is important to remember that we are in a rented facility. As such, we should respect any locked closet or storage facility.
4. Our children are precious. Please do not allow them to walk to the restrooms or anywhere outside of the sanctuary without an adult or older person attending them. The area around the sanctuary is open and many people drift in and out, including people who are homeless or in search of food or money.
5. Our children should not enter the upstairs storage rooms or any personal SDA office areas. They should keep away from sound equipment, the stage, the organ and piano, and any other equipment in the sanctuary.
6. Children should not play around the trash bins which have heavy swing doors. They should avoid climbing behind gated or fenced air conditioning units (which have a high electrical voltage), climbing on hedges around the east and west side of parking lots, or playing near the carved sculptures.
7. Children may run and play in the grassy area on the fenced, north side of the sanctuary when accompanied by a parent or responsible adult, but should avoid running through shrubs, pulling or climbing on tree branches or pulling out plants.
8. The west side of the entrance (where the SDA sign is located) does not have a gate and children should not be in this area unattended.
9. Children should respect the elderly and all brethren by not running or pushing in any area where brethren are gathered or walking.
10. We are our brothers' keepers and should be looking after each other.

WEEKLY REFRESHMENTS – If it is your turn, please do your best to participate as we seem to be having fewer and fewer refreshments each week. If possible, try to provide nutritious snacks, such as fruits and vegetables, sandwiches, and other finger foods that all can enjoy.
Remember that this is snack time and not dinner, so please help insure that everyone is able to enjoy the foods that are provided. Thank you for your participation – our food and fellowship is something we all can enjoy.
